That Which Has No Name is a body of work about home, memory, intimacy, and my own personal history.
The work consist of a series of collages that are pinned and floated off the gallery walls. The photographs in these collages were made out of the process of photographing my daily experience over the course of two years. During this time, I documented my surroundings and made portraits of my then-partner, whom I have shared these experiences with. In these collages, I use extensive amounts of handwriting, ink, and expressive marks on the paper along with my photographs in order to communicate my experiences and emotions.
The installation is meant to function as an abstract narrative, one in which the viewer may be able to experience in their own way. This body of work is a constellation of my life and lived experience. Personal experience acts as a vehicle to talk about broader human emotions.
